Crown Island Jazz Band

April 1, 2009

The Crown Island Jazz Band focuses on traditional jazz commonly known as “Dixieland” style jazz. We do allow ourselves to “color outside the line” once in a while and play an occasional polka or a waltz. Even then, however, the songs will probably have a slight Dixieland flavor. Crown Island Jazz Band originated in 2002 and used the name Crown Island because the two founding members were from the “Crown City” of Coronado. We will play at any event where there is a desire to transform an ordinary atmosphere into a lively and exuberant occasion.

Over the next few weeks we will be resurrect our group (and this site) after the tragic losses of David Green and Dale Swisher.

Joining us will be Alan LaMotte on trombone  and Tom Conti  on reeds and vocal.  Although we can never replace David or Dale  we will march onward like the saints in the grand tradition of New Orleans jazz.

New photos and biographies will be added and our upcoming events will be listed.

As we move forward we will keep David and Dale in our hearts and dedicate our reborn band to their memory as we know they would want us to.
